Description
This is one of the jewels of our collection of dinosaur bones. This piece is absolutely exceptional. Our expert is currently studying and comparing this bone with similar ones already published.

Its morphology corresponds with a dorsal vertebra. Its centrum is perfectly preserved, showing some impressive details of the epicleideum and the septum.

The neural spine is partially preserved, showing a natural crush and natural displacement with respect to its original position. The neural spine is attached to the centrum by some fractures that have been restored by the filling method. The transverse processes, unfortunately, have not been preserved.

It is probably a dorsal vertebra of one of the two large theropod dinosaurs that inhabited the Upper Cretaceous ecosystems of North Africa. But for the moment is in study.

The bone rests from the sites in the south of Morocco are very scarce and valuable because of many reasons. One of them is the very same nature of the geological formation that contains them. The sediments were formed in delta and fluvial environments, where the transportation energy was relatively high. Because of this, any possibility of finding articulated rests is very rare, since the rests of dead animals where transported and deteriorated. That is why only the most robust bones or the most stable parts are usually preserved. Another reason for the lack of complete dinosaur bones in this region is the destructive methodology normally employed by the local miners in their excavations, which in the search of teeth, usually destroy many interesting bone rests.

The Only Real Specialist. A Certified Paleontologist in Charge

Many turn their hobby into business, they have an online store or sell in eBay. While that can be commendable, it can’t compare with a real expert, with years of academic formation, supervised field work experience, trained in the art of correct identification, detection of fakes, and a solid network of other accredited paleontologists to consult with.

The key facts are being able to guarantee:
Proper Fossil IDAccurate Scientific DescriptionLifetime Warranty

We do that, and in addition we provide a state-of-the-art uniquely numbered, 24/7 online verifiable, hologram-secured Certificate of Authenticity with all the specimens. It is a lifetime warranty: if new discoveries are made that modify the classification of the specimen or there is any inaccuracy, we will re-issue the certificate. On top of that, a 100% Money Back Guarantee in case you simply change your mind: no questions asked.
