Tyrannosaur teeth from the Judith River Formation, which some sellers label as "Nanotyrannus," are for sale from various fossil dealers. However, isolated teeth from this formation are often difficult to definitively identify and may be labeled as one of several tyrannosaur species like Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus, or Daspletosaurus.

Some retailers may use "Nanotyrannus" for smaller or juvenile-looking teeth found in this formation, but these are not always a guaranteed match and are often considered distinct from the Hell Creek formation's Nanotyrannus specimens.

Many tyrannosaur teeth from the Judith River Formation are labeled as "juvenile" and some with "Nanotyrannus?".

Identification challenges: It is statistically difficult to identify isolated teeth from the Judith River Formation to a specific tyrannosaur species because teeth from Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus, and Daspletosaurus are very similar.

While some dealers may label Judith River teeth as Nanotyrannus, it's important to understand that Nanotyrannus is a debated genus and is primarily associated with the later Hell Creek Formation.

Observations about our specimen: This is only the tip of a specimen, and unfortunately, it also lacks the carina of one of its edges due to erosion and wear. However, we can reasonably assume that this tip belongs to one of the Tyrannosaurus genera present in the Judith River Formation, as Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus or Daspletosaurus.
