Description

Meteorite type & CLASS / OFFICIAL NAME or NUMBER (Meteoritical Bulletin Database): Carbonaceous Chondrite C3 Ungrouped. Belonging to the new "CT" chondrite group proposed in the recent LPSC (Lunar and Planetary Science Conference (2022)) abstract.

FALL/FIND LOCATION: Algeria, North West Africa

WEIGHT: 13.5 g

Ref: M1 - 13019

Observations: The classification of this material has been commissioned by the Geologist J.A.Poblador to the meteorite classifier and well known specialist Dr Anthony Irving (Washington University, USA). It has already been confirmed as Carbonaceous Chondrite C3 ungrouped based on isotopic composition. Has been submitted to the Meteoritical Bulletin Database, and has been given the provisional name of "NWA 14740", pending committee approval.
We originally thought it was a CM2 however it is a much more interesting C3-ungrouped belonging to the new "CT" chondrite group that have been proposed in the recent LPSC (Lunar and Planetary Science Conference (2022)) abstract. Oxygen isotopes were measured at CEREGE.

The authenticity of this specimen is guaranteed by the Geologist J.A.Poblador, member of the Global Meteorite Association G0043 and IMCA 5681, and also one of the official main mass holders of this material.
